Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Barcelona.On a national level, he is Vice-president of the Spanish Retina and Vitreous Society (SERV) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Ophthalmology Society.On an international level, he holds the position of Liaison Leader of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) for Europe, is a member of the Board of Directors of EURETINA and the Board of Directors of Club Jules Gonin, as well as being a founding member and professor at the European School of Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO).He is a specialist in retina surgery, with a special interest in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and complicated retinal detachment surgery. He is apioneer in Spain in the treatment of macular hole, intraocular tumour surgery and retinal vascular disease.
