• - Studied dentistry from 1968 to 1974 in Basel / Zurich (Switzerland).- He received the 1975 Dr. med. from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and habilitated in 1985 at the same place.

Since 2009 he has been Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania (Dept. Preventive and Restorative Sciences), Philadelphia, USA. Since 2010, Sun Yat-sen University, Guanghua School of Stomatology, Guangzhou, China, and King Saud University, School of Dentistry, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
